Backstage Update On Why Andrade Really Left WWE
Andrade made a shocking departure from WWE recently after less than two years into his second stint with the company. His departure was confirmed over the weekend when his profile was moved to WWE’s alumni section.
The departure was not mutual. According to Sports Illustrated, Andrade was “effectively released by the company,” and WWE was the one who decided to part ways. The release was an “isolated incident,” not due to budget cuts, contract expiration, or injury; he still had over 18 months left on his deal.
WWE reportedly couldn’t reach Andrade for several weeks before his release, which contributed to the decision. He had not been backstage for nearly a month preceding the announcement, and talent were only informed when the release became official.

There Were Creative Differences Between Andrade and WWE
A new report from Bodyslam has claimed that there were ongoing creative differences between Andrade and WWE since his return at Royal Rumble 2024, leading to growing frustration on both sides over the past year and a half. Plus, it was also suggested that his absence affected creative plans after SummerSlam, including a rumored program with The Wyatt Sicks at WWE Clash in Paris.
Andrade originally signed with WWE in November 2015 and debuted on NXT in January 2016, later moving to the main roster in April 2018. He left WWE for the first time in March 2021 after requesting his release, reportedly due to frustrations with his creative direction and lack of significant opportunities on the main roster.
After leaving WWE, Andrade joined AEW in July 2021 as Andrade El Idolo, wrestling for the company until December 2023. His AEW run was marked by inconsistent booking and backstage issues, including a noted altercation with Sammy Guevara, which contributed to his decision to leave AEW before his contract expired.
He returned to WWE at the Royal Rumble on January 27, 2024, as a surprise entrant, beginning a second stint with the company that included a singles and tag run and a WWE Speed Championship reign. His last match was the Six-Team TLC Match at SummerSlam 2025 with Rey Fenix.
