Why AJ Styles Was Not Inducted Into TNA Hall Of Fame
AJ Styles remains a TNA legend.
On October 4th, AJ Styles made his return to SmackDown, but things didn’t go to plan. The star’s big return was cut short by Carmelo Hayes, but the former NXT Champion turned down Styles’ challenge to a match.
However, LA Knight arrived to make an offer causing Hayes to change his mind.
This led to a match between Styles and Hayes, but the former World Champion suffered an injury during the bout. The issue has cut short what some thought would be Styles’ farewell tour as he begins to wind down his career.
According to one report on the situation, AJ Styles was “pretty mad” about how everything had played out.
Styles suffered a mid-foot ligament sprain in his singles match with Hayes. While he started selling when landing on his feet after a quebrada, and was selling an injury, the leg went out when he was doing an ushigoroshi and the referee stopped the match.
He was pretty mad about the whole thing.
WWE Blocked AJ Styles Hall Of Fame Nod
Over Bound For Glory weekend, Bob Ryder and Rhino were inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame. Ahead of the event, Matt Hardy revealed that Monty Brown had also been under consideration, but the company was unable to get hold of the star as he’s gone “off the grid.”
In addition, Fightful Select has reported that TNA approached WWE about potentially inducting AJ Styles. However, WWE “passed on the opportunity” and although no specific reason was given, people in TNA believe it’s likely to do with Styles’ injury and storyline.
Styles signed with TNA in 2002 and spent the next 12 years dominating the main event picture becoming one of the greatest wrestlers the company has ever seen.
