Who The Young Bucks Really Wanted To Lose AEW Title To

Young Bucks AEW

The identity of the team The Young Bucks wanted to lose their AEW Tag Team Championship to in 2024 has been revealed.

On the October 30 edition of Dynamite, The Young Bucks lost the AEW World Tag Team Championship to Private Party and promptly walked out of the company.

That ended a title reign that saw The Bucks only defend their title five times as fans grew frustrated with the state of the tag team division in the company. However, it seems The Young Bucks’ creative plans in AEW changed constantly during this time with Matthew and Nicholas Jackson claiming they had wanted to drop the title a lot sooner to an entirely different team.

And now it seems the identity of that team has been revealed.

The Young Bucks Losing? You Son Of A…

Fightful Select has reported that among the creative plans scrapped by AEW was an Elite Roulette match that would lead to a random team getting a title shot. The team The Bucks are said to have wanted to be squashed by for the gold was The Outrunners – Turth Magnum and Turbo Floyd.

The Outrunners have become a runaway hit with fans in AEW during 2024 with their throwback antics helping them find popularity and success in the ring. The Outrunners were part of the four-way AEW Tag Team Championship match at Full Gear that saw Private Party retain their title.

Back in October, it was announced that The Young Bucks would compete at Wrestle Dynasty inside the Tokyo Dome, marking their first match in Japan since leaving NJPW in 2019. At the event, the Jackson brothers will challenge for the vacant IWGP Tag Team Championship.
