Who Was Really Meant To Win Abandoned WWE Raw Match Revealed
One WWE match had to be stopped on Raw, raising questions over who was really meant to win the bout.
John Cena will compete in the final match of his illustrious career at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th. But who Cena will face in that match is still a mystery.
A sixteen-man Last Time Is Now tournament has been underway in WWE, with the winner earning the honour of being the man to face Cena in his last outing. And that tournament continued when Raw rolled into Oklahoma City.
The November 24th edition of Raw saw two quarter-final bouts take place as Gunther cemented his place in the semi-final with a win over Carmelo Hayes. The other quarter-final match ended in controversy as an injury to Penta meant his match with Solo Sikoa had to be stopped, with Sikoa being declared the winner.
That caused some fans to speculate that the planned winner of the match had to be changed because of Penta’s injury, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
No Changes Made To WWE Raw Match Winner
The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez has reported that Solo Sikoa was always planned to win the match, writing:
Solo Sikoa was scheduled to beat Penta, so nothing changed in the tournament
As a result of their respective wins, Gunther and Solo Sikoa will now face one another in the semi-finals of the tournament. Sikoa famously took apart Cena at their only singles match at Crown Jewel in 2023, while The Ring General has never met Cena in the ring.
John Cena will compete in his penultimate match at Survivor Series, where he puts his Intercontinental Championship on the line against Dominik Mysterio.
