Who Kenny Omega Was Really Meant To Face At AEW WrestleDream

Kenny Omega AEW

Kenny Omega made his presence felt at AEW WrestleDream, but who was he really meant to face at the show?

At WrestleDream, The Young Bucks lost the chance to claim another $500,000 as they lost for the first time ever to Jurassic Express. Jack Perry and Luchasaurus were attacked after that match by The Don Callis Family’s Josh Alexander, Mark Davis, and Lance Archer. The Bucks seemed torn about the assault, choosing to just leave rather than take part or help their opponents.

Kenny Omega then made his way to the ring to make the save, as he and Jurassic Express cleared the ring of The Don Callis Family. But Omega should have had his chance to defeat the group in a tag team bout that never ended up taking place.

Kenny Omega Forced To Miss Out On AEW WrestleDream Match

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that Omega was originally meant to team with Kota Ibushi at WrestleDream, but not against the two opponents he previously reported:

The deal with the match, it was originally gonna be Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi against Mark Davis and Josh Alexander. That was originally gonna be the match on this show, which didn’t end up happening due to Kota Ibushi’s injury.

I had written in the Observer that it was Hechicero, but Hechicero was booked in Wolverhampton, England, this weekend, so it was never gonna be Hechicero on the show.

Prior to WrestleDream, Kota Ibushi suffered a broken femur that could keep him out of action for up to two years.
