Speculation On Which AEW Stars WWE Contacted

With rumours running rampant that WWE has been in contact with contracted AEW stars, new speculation names some of the stars believed to be those contacted.

News broke a few weeks ago that WWE had reportedly reached out to a handful of current performers signed to All Elite Wrestling. Malakai Black was believed to be among those contacted and is now confirmed to have received correspondence from WWE, despite his five-year deal with AEW.

Writing on the F4W Online message boards, Wrestling Observer’s Ryan Frederick commented on who he believed could be among the stars contacted by WWE:

“I’d expect that one may well have been Buddy Matthews. The other ex WWE guys I guess it could be would be Keith Lee, Cole, O’Reilly or Andrade.”

All the names mentioned were featured to some extent on the NXT brand when it was under the control of Triple H who is now in charge of the creative direction of the entire WWE as the company’s Chief Content Officer following the retirement of former chairman, Vince McMahon.

Several former NXT stars under the reign of The Game have returned to WWE, among them: Dakota Kai, Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Johnny Gargano, Hit Row, and Dexter Lumis.
