When Will AJ Lee Return To WWE Television?
AJ Lee’s return to WWE could be just days away.
For a decade, fans have never given up hope that one day, AJ Lee would return to WWE. And while that seemed highly unlikely for several years, expectations were raised when her husband, CM Punk, made his own stunning return to the company in late 2023.
That simmering hope burst into something on a whole new scale at Clash In Paris, Becky Lynch joined forces with Seth Rollins and The Vision after hitting CM Punk with a thunderous low blow. This allowed Rollins to earn the win in a chaotic Fatal-Four-Way Match to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
With Rollins teaming with his wife, it only made sense that Punk would do the same, right?
Throw in references to Lee on the following episode of Raw, and fans truly dared to dream. And now that dream is a reality.
Details Of AJ Lee’s Comeback Revealed
To the delight of fans around the world, it’s now been reported that AJ Lee will return to the ring at Wrestlepalooza. At the event, she’ll team with CM Punk to take on Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch.
In addition, it’s been reported by Fightful Select that it’s a “forgone conclusion” that Lee will either be announced or appear at SmackDown in Chicago on September 5.
The report added that Lee’s comeback isn’t expected to be a one-off, and WWE is hoping to work with her further moving forward.
AJ Lee originally signed with WWE in 2009 after starting her training with Jay Lethal two years earlier. After spending time in the company’s developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling, and competing in NXT, she arrived on the main roster in March 2011 when she debuted on SmackDown alongside Kaitlyn.
Lee went on to become a three-time Divas Champion before announcing her retirement in 2015. Lee hasn’t wrestled since teaming with Naomi and Paige to beat The Bella Twins and Natalya on the March 30, 2015 of Monday Night Raw. She later confirmed that she’d retired from in-ring competition due to injury concerns.
The star’s departure came a little over a year after Punk famously left the company in stunningly acrimonious fashion.
