What’s Really Going On With Stephanie Vaquer After WWE Raw Absence

Confusion reigned over Stephanie Vaquer’s status in WWE after a Raw segment was abandoned but what’s really going on?

Stephanie Vaquer was set to face Naomi for the Women’s World Championship at Clash in Paris, but that match never happened. Naomi had to vacate that title when she announced her pregnancy, leaving Vaquer’s title shot up in the air.

Raw General Manager Adam Pearce eventually announced that Vaquer would clash with IYO SKY for the vacant title at Wrestlepalooza, and a contract signing was advertised for the September 8th edition of Raw. However, Pearce told SKY on the show that Vaquer wasn’t there, so the signing was cancelled.

Despite that no-show, Stephanie Vaquer made a surprise appearance on the following night’s NXT, where she was joined by Tiffany Stratton and Rhea Ripley. That set up a six-woman tag team match for the following week’s NXT Homecoming, where they will face Fatal Influence.

But with her not appearing on Raw and then making an unannounced appearance on NXT, what’s really going on with Stephanie Vaquer?

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave some sort of insight into what is actually going on with Stephanie Vaquer:

The thing with Stephanie Vaquer is that she has a minor injury. That’s the situation.

Asked why Vaquer couldn’t appear on Raw as part of the contract signing, Meltzer conceded he didn’t know:

I don’t know. I think that they weren’t clear on everything. I don’t know the whole story, but I was told by WWE that it’s a minor thing, it’s nothing to worry about. She’s going to be doing matches going forward.
