What WWE Is Really Planning For CM Punk At WrestleMania

CM Punk

CM Punk is heading to WrestleMania 41 and it seems WWE has big plans for the star after he missed out on the biggest show of the year in 2024.

CM Punk was injured in the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble ruling him out of a likely World Heavyweight Championship match with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40.

CM Punk and Seth Rollins will finally clash in a WWE ring when Raw makes its debut on Netflix and it seems there are big plans in the mix for Punk moving on from that match.

CM Punk Heading For World Title Match

Speaking on the Backstage Pass podcast, WrestleVotes noted that WWE has maintained that they want CM Punk in a world championship match at WrestleMania 41 and they think that means Punk will be challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship:

I’ve heard so many things on Punk, especially as of late with the Roman [Reigns] stuff being thrown in there. But the one main factor that I’ve heard almost all year is they want him [Punk] to be involved in a World Title match. I don’t know how the puzzle pieces are going to fit, but they want him at the top. I don’t think it’ll be with Cody [Rhodes], so that’s one title match out the window. Does he fit into the other one? I’m going to say yes at this point.

However, despite the assertion that Punk will be challenging for the title, WrestleVotes reckoned that he won’t be facing Gunther for the gold:

I don’t think it’ll be Gunther, that’s the thing. I don’t think it’s Punk and Gunther. So if they want him involved with the title, then what do you do with Gunther?

That could mean CM Punk is in line to win the men’s Royal Rumble match, however, Roman Reigns is the current favourite to win the Royal Rumble.
