Vince McMahon was present at Hulk Hogan’s funeral in an appearance that has been likened to the Wizard of Oz.
On July 24th, WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan passed away aged 71 after suffering cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida.
WWE led tributes to Hogan in light of his passing, with his old in-ring rival Ric Flair sharing a heartbreaking message on the news of Hogan’s death.Not everyone was thrilled with WWE’s repeated tributes to Hogan, given the WWE Hall of Famer’s checkered past and infamous racism storm when he was caught using racial slurs repeatedly on a secret recording.
Vince McMahon Hits Hulk Hogan’s Pose
Now Hogan’s funeral has taken place, and there were plenty of names from the world of wrestling present to pay their respects to The Hulkster.
Fightful founder Jimmy Van has noted Vince McMahon was a surprise speaker at the event and that McMahon even broke out Hogan’s signature pose to get him one final standing ovation:
I’m told one of the speakers at Hulk Hogan’s funeral today was a surprise – Vince McMahon. Others in attendance included Kid Rock, Linda McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Shane McMahon, Triple H, and Kevin Nash. Vince asked everyone to give Hogan one last standing ovation.
Van also noted that McMahon was only present for his speech at the funeral and then was gone:
I’m told Vince was on stage for his speech and then he was gone. “It was like The Wizard of Oz.”
