What The Undertaker Expects From John Cena’s Last Year In WWE
John Cena is set for a huge retirement year in 2025 and now The Undertaker has shared his thoughts on the end of the WWE icon’s career.
John Cena revealed that he was calling time on his WWE career in 2025 with a huge year that will see him return to the ring on a more regular basis. In his quest to break his tie with Ric Flair of 16 world titles, John Cena has entered the 2025 Royal Rumble as he looks to become a three-time winner of that landmark match.
The Undertaker spent 30 years at the top of WWE but his own retirement from the ring came under a cloud. The COVID pandemic forced his final match to be a cinematic one as he defeated AJ Styles in a Boneyard match at WrestleMania 36. Later in 2020, WWE gave The Undertaker a send-off at Survivor Series, marking his 30th anniversary in the company but again that took place in front of no fans.
The Undertaker Expects Some Losses In John Cena’s Last WWE Year
Speaking on his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker has now shared his expectations for John Cena’s retirement tour and thinks the company is giving Cena the send-off he deserves:
I think it’s going to be a great swan song year for him. It’s going to be the, I think it’ll be the equivalent to like they’ve done in the NBA when all those the legends kind of on their last year, and they get to go to all these different towns and get their flowers in each town.
Cena was a workhorse, huge star for a lot of years, and I think it’s really cool the way they have this kind of laid out. They’ve got a certain amount of dates he’s going to make. A certain amount of premium live events he’s going to make, and it’s going to give people a chance to, again, give him his flowers, give him his props, let him say goodbye. It’s a cool way of doing it.
I don’t expect anything crazy. I think he’s going to get some good wins. I think he’s going to probably, you know, take some Ls. But I think overall, it’s going to be great. It’s going to be great for the WWE fan base because a lot of times guys will just announce their retirement, and that’s it, yeah, or they come back and then they retire again and they come back and do it again.
John Cena’s WrestleMania 41 match seems to have been made suggesting he could have quite the night at the Royal Rumble on February 1.
