NXT has officially welcomed an Olympic gold medallist who made their TV debut on the brand after already making waves in WWE.

On the May 18 edition of WWE LFG, Tyra Mae Steele and Jasper Troy were named as the winners of season one, supposedly earning them both an NXT contract. The reality is that all participants are currently signed to WWE and train at the Performance Center.

Steele is an Olympic gold medallist – best known as Tamyra Mensah-Stock in those circles – having won the prize for freestyle wrestling at the 2020 Games in Tokyo. Troy has a football background and made his debut in 2023, he has also competed on the now-defunct NXT Level Up show.

Tyra Mae Steele Is NXT’s New Problem

The June 3rd edition of NXT saw Tyra Mae Steele make her official TV debut on the brand as she took on Arianna Grace. Steele looked impressive in the outing and borrowed from another Olympic gold medallist turned WWE star in Kurt Angle as she nailed Grace with a nasty German Suplex to pick up the victory.

Steele is not the only new problem for the brand’s women’s division to contend with after former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May made her WWE debut on the show as well.
