What Did The Rock Say After WWE SmackDown?
The Rock made a bombshell appearance on WWE SmackDown but for the first time, it seems not everyone is thrilled with how his return played out.
Cody Rhodes won the men’s Royal Rumble for the second year in a row which gave him the chance to finally finish his story. Rhodes made very clear immediately after his win that he was going after Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 but it seems plans have changed.
CM Punk suffered a serious injury in the Royal Rumble which has ruled him out of WrestleMania and his expected match with Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. As a result, Rollins tried to make Rhodes change his mind about facing Reigns and encouraged Rhodes to face him for the “workhorse” title instead.
The Rock Wants To Make WWE Magic
On SmackDown, Cody Rhodes made that decision and told Roman Reigns that while he still wants the WWE Universal Title now is not the time before The Rock made his surprise return to the ring to confront Reigns. Now it looks like the long-awaited match between The Rock and Roman Reigns will take place but the backlash against WWE has been considerable considering the story being told with Cody Rhodes.
A WWE SmackDown Exclusive has shown what happened after SmackDown went off the air with Roman Reigns eventually leaving the ring after his stare-down with The Rock before the TKO Board member told the fans:
Well, it’s become very clear and evident to The Rock that when you want to create something iconic, and when you want to create something magical, you come to the Magic City. This is a city deep in history, and ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I’m happy to tell you that tonight, all of us, tonight we made history here in Birmingham, Alabama. Birmingham, I thank you. I love you. If you smell what The Rock is cooking.
Whether or not the WWE fans want to see what magic The Rock has left over a story that has been told over the past three years since Cody Rhodes returned to the company remains to be seen.
