Was Shawn Michaels Gay? Ex-WWE Manager Answers

Over the last couple of weeks, Shawn Michaels’ sexuality has been a hot topic of discussion in wrestling.

Bret “The Hitman” Hart managed to turn a few heads after claiming that Vince McMahon and Michaels were “sleeping together.”

His comments came during a podcast commemorating the 1997 Montreal Screwjob incident, which saw McMahon screw Hart out of the WWE (then WWF) title at Survivor Series.

Surprisingly, the scale has not convincingly tipped to either side, with people from inside the business sharing their experiences of being around The Heartbreak Kid.

Former tag team champion Rene Dupree claimed to have heard similar stories. He even recalled Michaels being involved in a storyline with The Honky Tonk Man, who called Shawn Michaels Vince McMahon’s “boy toy.”

I can’t say anything bad about Shawn Michaels. He always treated me f***ing great. He was always very nice to me and very helpful to me. But this is not the first that I have heard of this.

Then of course the infamous Honky Tonk Man… He goes, ‘And Shawn, if you weren’t Vince’s boy toy, you’d be gone and you know that. Everybody knows it.’ Then again it’s the wrestling business and you believe in nothing that you hear and three quarters of what you see. and it could be just bitterness. It could just jealousy but who knows, maybe where there’s flames there’s fire.

Was Shawn gay? I knew Shawn. I don’t think he was gay, or he never hit on me; I can say that for a definite fact. But if he was gay, who gives a crap? I don’t care. See, there’s been a lot of gay guys in wrestling years ago, and we all knew they were gay. Guess what we said about it? Nothing, cuz it was his business.
