Vince Russo Says He Had Heat With A WWE Hall Of Famer After Leaving For WCW

Vince Russo opened up about an unexpected rift with The Undertaker that arose after his departure from WWE to join WCW in 1999.

During an interview on “WrestlingInc’s Nuclear Heat,” Vince Russo recounted how he first learned of the tension between him and the legendary wrestler. The news of their strained relationship came as a shock to Russo, who had always admired The Undertaker. The revelation came through a conversation with Terry Taylor, who informed Russo of The Undertaker’s feelings.

I found out through Terry Taylor that I had a little bit of heat with Taker.

Russo shared. He went on to explain the nature of the issue, as relayed to him by Taylor:

Terry said to me, ‘He told me he always asked him to work when he was hurt. You used to expect him to work when he was hurt.’

This revelation deeply affected Russo, as he had always held The Undertaker in the highest regard. The idea that he might have pushed the wrestler to perform while injured was difficult for him to accept.

That really hurt me. I respected The Undertaker more than anyone else. I would never in my wildest dreams ask somebody to work a match if they were hurt.

In defence of his actions during his time with WWE, Russo asserted that he was unaware of The Undertaker’s injuries.

With all due respect, Taker never told me he was hurt.
