Vince McMahon’s Future In “Jeopardy”

Vince McMahon

A new report has explained exactly why WWE Chairman Vince McMahon’s future at the company could be in trouble amid allegations of hush money payments.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Vince McMahon’s own company board is investigating a $3 million payment said to have been made by him to a former employee of the company in return for them signing a non-disclosure agreement.

The employee was hired by the company as a paralegal in 2019 with the report saying an anonymous email was sent to WWE’s board on March 30th, 2022 by a friend of the employee in question which alleged that the employee’s salary was doubled from $100,000 to $200,000 after beginning an intimate relationship with the WWE Chairman.

However, The Journal’s report went on to say that the $3 million payment and past payments related to NDAs had come from McMahon’s personal funds. According to Dave Meltzer writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, however, it is the doubling of the ex-employees salary that could lead McMahon into serious hot water:

“But what could be the more dangerous revelation is that the article and the letter said that McMahon hired the woman at $100,000 per year in 2019, and then increased that figure to $200,000 after he began having sexual relationship with her. If that was true, that is company funds, and a gigantic impropriety. If her raise can be tied into her affair, Vince McMahon’s future could be in jeopardy.”

Long-time McMahon attorney Jerry McDevitt told the Journal that regarding payment to the now ex-employee, “WWE did not pay any monies on her departure.” McDevitt also added that the employee had made no claims of harassment against Vince McMahon.
