Vince McMahon’s Emotional Final Message To WWE Board Revealed
Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon’s final email to the WWE board before his departure from the company has recently been revealed
Vince McMahon, a name synonymous with wrestling, had to step down from his position as CEO of the company in 2022 pending an internal investigation for allegations of misconduct.
He returned briefly in 2023 to oversee WWE’s sale to Endeavor Group Holdings and subsequent merger with UFC and TKO, but was forced to step down again, and for good this time, following a sexual harassment scandal in which the victim was a WWE employee, Janel Grant.
Vince McMahon was caught in the middle of another controversy during WWE’s sale to Endeavor when a lawsuit was filed by shareholders claiming McMahon had not been transparent. The Delaware Court of Chancery issued a ruling stating that WWE must produce documents related to McMahon’s conduct following multiple federal investigations.
Vince McMahon’s Last Email To WWE Revealed
Now, in the recent court filings, McMahon’s final email to the WWE board has been revealed. The ex-CEO expresses his gratitude to the board members in the email, thanking them for helping him build WWE into a global cultural phenomenon. He said he supported the board’s decision to ask him to go to protect shareholder value.
Even though I am no longer employed by WWE as of 4 pm EST, I’m taking the liberty of using corporate email one hour after my official departure. I hope that’s alright, lol. I understand this has been a painful and arduous process for all of us to reach a conclusion. I have the utmost respect for each and every one of you and ultimately support your decision-making in an effort to protect shareholder value
I’ve always been forthright with the Board, and I thank you for helping me build WWE into the promotional juggernaut and cultural icon that it is today. I would expect nothing less than your continued guidance and support for our new leadership team. I would further encourage you to immediately put the past behind us and return to the fun-loving, entrepreneurial spirit we previously enjoyed
The court filings also revealed text messages sent by Endeavor’s Mark Shapiro in 2022, who wrote that he expects Vince to be back in WWE after nine months. McMahon returned sooner than that and was even involved in the build-up to WrestleMania 39 despite WWE president Nick Khan’s denial of the former’s involvement. Further proof was found for Vince McMahon’s involvement when the court filings reveal a text exchange between Vince, Nick, and Bruce Prichard about the creative plans of WrestleMania 39’smain event involving Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.
