Vince McMahon’s Creative Not To WWE Champion’s Taste

Vince McMahon WWE

World Heavyweight Champion Gunther has explained why Triple H has been key to his success and things might have been very different under Vince McMahon in WWE.

Gunther captured the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam just a few months after his record-breaking reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion came to an end.

The Austrian star’s ascent to the top of WWE has come under the watch of Triple H who took over the creative running of the company following the ousting of Vince McMahon who is accused of sexual assault in an ongoing lawsuit.

Gunther Happy Without Vince McMahon In WWE

Speaking to Metro, Gunther explained how his connection with Triple H has helped him achieve his incredible success in WWE:

He always supported me and saw something in me. In general, I think he is somebody that is very disciplined when it comes to his long-term goals with certain people and sticking to them. I don’t know if I would be here without ever being more or less connected with Triple H in that sense.

At the end of the day, Triple H right now, he’s our matchmaker, he’s the head of creative. And what that role kinda is in our sport is like, he’s the head coach to what a football team would be. All I can do is I can do me. I can do that better than anybody else,’ he explained. ‘And in my case, it’s “take it or leave it.”

Gunther’s feelings towards Triple H seem to be in stark contrast to his feelings about former WWE boss Vince McMahon. The Ring General admitted creative under McMahon was not to his liking and he barely had any communication with him:

The creative ideas from his side, obviously, was never my kind of thing. But that’s subjective. It’s a taste thing. I think the success can’t be denied. But I was just under him for maybe three and a half months, and in that time, I had half a conversation with him.

Gunther will defend his World Heavyweight Title against Sami Zayn on the 7th of October edition of Raw following his run-in with WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg at Bad Blood.
