Vince McMahon’s Contract Rules Revealed

Vince McMahon WWE

Vince McMahon returned to WWE at the beginning of 2023 when he forced his way back onto the Board but with his employment status recently confirmed, it seems there are some interesting conditions that he must adhere to.

Vince McMahon announced his retirement from WWE in July 2022 amid an investigation into him by the company’s own Board of Directors. It had emerged earlier in the year that McMahon had apparently paid millions of dollars in ‘hush money’ to former female employees who had accused him of sexual misconduct.

Prior to his WWE return, McMahon was said to have paid millions of dollars to a former WWE referee who had long alleged that she had been raped by McMahon in 1986.

The Hollywood Reporter has noted that McMahon’s contract with WWE which was confirmed at the end of March states that “McMahon’s continued employment shall be conditioned on” compliance with the company’s “Conflict of Interest and Code of Conduct,” as well as its “Equal Opportunity and Non-Harassment Policy.”

While these terms and clauses may be standard practice in employment contracts, fans and shareholders alike will be sure to be on the lookout for any other allegations that are thrown McMahon’s way and if that situation occurs what the company will do about it.

WWE is of course in the process of being taken over by Endeavor and merged into a new company with UFC. Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel has previously stated “I would have body slammed [McMahon] if he thought he was going to leave” so it appears Vince McMahon will have a big role to play when the takeover is complete.
