Vince McMahon Wanted WWE Star In First-Time Ever Match

Vince McMahon

A famous moment could have looked very different if Vince McMahon had his way.

Nia Jax has been something of a revelation since returning to WWE in September 2023. Her star has never shone brighter and she looked like a woman reborn as she climbed back to the top of the women’s division.

After winning the Queen of the Ring tournament in May, Jax booked herself a shot at Bayley and the Women’s Championship.

Fast forward to August 3rd, and Nia Jax defeated Bayley to win the title via an unlikely assist from Money In The Bank winner Tiffany Stratton.

Vince McMahon Wanted Nia Jax To Make History

Speaking at the SummerSlam post-show following her win over Bayley, Jax revealed Vince McMahon wanted her to compete in the first women’s match in Saudi Arabia in 2019. However, she was forced to miss the event through injury.

“I remember before I went out for my double ACL surgery, Vince had pulled me aside and said – he had asked me because I waited a while before my surgery, he said, ‘Hey, we’re gonna have the first ever women’s match in Saudi Arabia, and I would like for you to be a part of it’.

And you know, things happened and I couldn’t be a part of it, but when I was able to win Queen of the Ring there, it was a pretty cool moment, and when Triple H came into the ring to crown me, it just hit the next level.”

With Jax out of action, the first-ever women’s match in Saudi Arabia was held at Crown Jewel between Natalya and Lacey Evans.
