Vince McMahon Gave WWE Star “A Bunch Of Opportunities” Says Road Dogg

Shinsuke Nakamura recently returned to WWE television on SmackDown and despite his limited time at the top of the card in the company, Road Dogg says Vince McMahon gave him “opportunity after opportunity.”

Nakamura made waves when he left New Japan Pro Wrestling to join WWE in early 2016 and immediately became a huge sensation as part of NXT. The former three-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion quickly became NXT Champion but some feel his success or popularity didn’t transfer when he was moved to the main roster in Vince McMahon’s company.

What did follow was in-ring success, however, as Nakamura won the men’s 2018 Royal Rumble match. However, he failed to dethrone AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 34 and to date has not held a world title in WWE.

Speaking on his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, Road Dogg suggested that Vince McMahon gave Nakamura chance after chance in WWE and still thinks he could be champion someday:

“Look I think he [Vince McMahon] gave Nakamura opportunity after opportunity. I think Vince sees that you don’t have to see Nakamura perform too many times before you see what everybody else sees.”

“I don’t think he [Vince] was blind to that or denied him of that, and I think he gave him a bunch of opportunities. Now look I think the argument can be made that, ‘Can he, could he be a top guy?’” suggesting at the time that the language barrier may have gotten in the way, but that’s no longer the case.

“I think now, what are we, five years ahead of that? And look, the world’s changed. I think he could totally be the champion.”

Shinsuke Nakamura recently made his return to WWE television for the first time in months and made quick work of Madcap Moss. It seems that The Artist could have bigger problems, however, with one SmackDown star apparently setting their sights on Nakamura.
