A new report has suggested that Vince McMahon could be looking to “scare” the WWE Board into installing him as Chairman once again.

Vince McMahon has stunned the world once again as he goes back on his July 2022 retirement and has forced his way back onto WWE’s Board of Directors. The action comes after a back and forth between McMahon and WWE’s Board in December 2022 with McMahon making clear he wanted to return to the company as Executive Chairman to help get the best values rights deal or oversee a sale of the company.

However, writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has suggested that Vince McMahon could be trying to scare the Board into making him Chairman of WWE once again. The report notes that McMahon has brought back George Barrios and Michelle Wilson, former co-Presidents of WWE, to help bolster his position:

“The idea would be to put [Barrios and Wilson] in, take out three of the current members, and from that point scare the other members into allowing him back in as Chairman, with the implication he would replace them with people who would vote him back into the position.”

It has since been confirmed that JoEllen Lyons Dillon, Jeffrey R. Speed, and Alan M. Wexler are the three current Board members that have been removed to fulfill McMahon’s audacious powerplay.
