Vince McMahon To Allegedly Bring Back Ex-Champion If He Reacquires WWE
Recent reports about Vince McMahon’s interest in reacquiring WWE have dominated the wrestling industry.
The former chairman had resigned from the company in January 2024 amid allegations of sexual assault and trafficking.
It was alleged that a year before that, McMahon’s daughter, Stephanie, and son-in-law, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, had voted against him returning to power.
Meanwhile, Triple H has taken over the role of Chief Content Officer.
Another name that has been missing for a couple of years is that of Shane McMahon, Vince’s son.
According to former WWE creative writer Vince Russo, if McMahon Sr. were to reclaim his company, Shane would automatically get involved in its operations in some capacity.
Russo recently appeared on The Wrestling Outlaws podcast alongside wrestler EC3 and Chris Featherstone.
Looking at the way WWE is run currently, he claimed that Vince McMahon is sorely missed. He also claimed that McMahon would bring back his son if he regained control of his company.
Every single week they’re showing us how badly they need the leadership of Vince McMahon. Bro, here’s where I think the difference would be: because of the way everything went down, if Vince McMahon were to ever buy back his company and come back, he would be coming back with Shane under his arm. And Vince would know I’m 80-something years old, I don’t have much time; F my son-in-law and my daughter for what they did for me. It is now time for me to repay back my son. And Shane McMahon would become the new Vince McMahon. [13:16 onwards]
WWE Has No Interest In Vince McMahon’s Son
Shane McMahon is a businessman at heart. In addition to representing WWE, the former European champion has also had business ventures outside of the company.
Last year, WrestleTalk reported that Shane met with AEW CEO Tony Khan. At the time, he was not contracted with WWE, meaning he could engage with other wrestling businesses if he pleased.
Around the same time, Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer claimed that the new WWE regime had no interest in Vince McMahon’s son.
I know Shane McMahon has looked to get back in WWE, I know the people in charge of WWE have no interest in him.
On his part, Shane had said he met Tony Khan to congratulate him on AEW’s success.
Shane was always seen as the natural successor to Vince; however, Triple H’s ascension within WWE, coupled with McMahon’s legal troubles, derailed his plans.
