Vince McMahon’s Lawyer Issues Statement After John Laurinaitis Swaps Sides
Vince McMahon has wasted little time in responding to his latest legal setback.
On May 28, it was announced that John Laurinaitis has agreed to oppose Vince McMahon in a high-profile sexual abuse lawsuit.
Back in January 2024, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a suit against McMahon, Laurinaitis, and WWE, centred around claims of sex trafficking and sexual abuse.
However, WWE’s former Head of Talent Relations has now agreed to cooperate and provide evidence in the suit after being removed as a defendant. This means that Laurinaitis has essentially turned his back on McMahon after agreeing to a “confidential settlement.”
John Laurinaitis has agreed to cooperate and provide evidence in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE. His agreement to a confidential settlement is a pivotal next step toward holding McMahon and WWE accountable and bringing justice to Ms. Grant after years of sexual abuse and trafficking.
Mr. Laurinaitis looks forward to moving on with his life. We cannot provide any additional details at this time.
Court filings have officially confirmed that Laurinaitis has been removed as a defendant, and that the allegations have been dropped “with prejudice.” This means that Grant cannot revisit the claims in the future.
Vince McMahon Hits Back
In the wake of the news, attorney Jessica Rosenberg sent the following statement to POST Wrestling on behalf of her client, Vince McMahon.
“Today’s dismissal of John Laurinaitis as a defendant doesn’t alter the facts of this case in any way. Vince McMahon never mistreated Janel Grant. No matter how many press releases her team issues, the truth remains unchanged. As Mr. Laurinaitis’s lawyer previously said: ‘Mr. Laurinaitis corroborates Mr. McMahon in publicly declaring that Ms. Grant’s allegations of sexual abuse and coercion in her Complaint are completely unfounded.’”
This isn’t the first time that Laurinaitis has appeared to switch sides after he initially opposed McMahon in February 2024. At the time, Laurinaitis claimed he was also a victim of McMahon’s, but two months later, he threw his support behind his long-time friend, insisting Grant’s claims were false.
