Vince McMahon Sex Trafficking Lawsuit Set To Resume

Vince McMahon WWE

Vince McMahon is staying under the legal spotlight.

On October 23rd, 2024, it was announced that a new lawsuit had been filed against Vince McMahon, Linda McMahon, WWE, and TKO. The suit alleges that those named were complicit in the sexual exploitation of children by former ring announcer and ring crew chief Melvin Phillips Jr.

However, the defendants filed to have the case put on hold until the Maryland Supreme Court makes a judgement on the Child Victims Act.

The new Maryland law removes the statute of limitations, allowing victims to sue those who may have been negligent regarding cases of child sex abuse.

The motion filed by WWE and the TKO Group was later granted with a ruling from the Supreme Court of Maryland expected before the end of August 2025. But Vince McMahon remains very much under the microscope.

Janel Grant’s Lawsuit Against Vince McMahon To Resume

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that the lawsuit against McMahon filed by Janel Grant in January will resume on December 12th. The case had been put on hold due to the ongoing federal investigation into McMahon.

The hold of the Janel Grant lawsuit against Vince McMahon is about to end. The Southern District of New York, due to its investigation of McMahon, asked for a stay regarding the lawsuit until 12/11, a date that is about to expire.

In January 2024, Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis, alleging sex trafficking and sexual abuse. Shortly after the filing was made, McMahon stepped down from his role with the TKO Group, while Laurinaitis had already left WWE.
