A new report says the feeling within WWE is that Vince McMahon is likely to return to television at some point in the near future.
Vince McMahon stunned the wrestling world at the beginning of 2023 when he strong-armed his way back onto WWE’s Board of Directors through his role as majority shareholder of the company. The boardroom shake-up saw McMahon installed as Executive Chairman of WWE while his daughter Stephanie McMahon resigned from her roles as Chairwoman and co-CEO of the company.
While the suggestion from within WWE management publicly and to employees is that Vince McMahon is back purely to investigate and potentially oversee a sale of the company, the reality could be quite different.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has noted that McMahon is back at the office and there’s a feeling from some that the Chairman will be back on television soon:
“Vince is at the office, he hasn’t been to TV yet. But I say probably ‘yet’. Will he go on TV? There’s certainly rumors running around that he will, I’ve asked people and they wouldn’t be surprised. But it’s not like there’s a date.”
“There’s that feeling that Vince is gonna want to go out on TV and he’ll get the big reaction when he does.”
“But he is in the office, he is talking about things other than the sale, and I think there’ll probably be more and more Vince fingerprints as time goes on. As far as creative goes, it just depends on… if Vince wants it, he’ll work to get it.”
Vince McMahon hasn’t appeared on WWE television since he originally announced his retirement from the company in July 2022.
