WWE Hall Of Famer On Vince McMahon Return Reports – “I Couldn’t Believe He Left”

A wrestling legend has given his opinion on the possibility of Vince McMahon possibly returning to WWE.

During his career as a pro wrestler, WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page had the most success of his career as a babyface wrestler in WCW.

As the “People’s Champion” in WCW, DDP used the Diamond Cutter to great success in his career leading to three reigns as the WCW World Champion. Page won several other titles in WCW. During his brief run in WWE in 2001 and 2002, he had a reign as a WWE Tag Team Champion and he won the European Championship as well.

It was reported earlier this week by the Wall Street Journal that Vince McMahon wanted to return to WWE in some capacity. It was in July 2022 when Vince McMahon retired from WWE due to allegations of “hush money” payments due to various affairs he had with women in WWE. A follow up to the McMahon return story has noted that some of Vince’s allies don’t want McMahon to come back.

After his retirement, Vince’s daughter Stephanie McMahon took over as Chairman along with the Co-CEO role with Nick Kha. Stephanie’s husband Paul “Triple H” Levesque is the Chief Content Officer now, which means he took over Vince’s role in terms of running the WWE Creative team and having the final say on everything we see on television.

Diamond Dallas Page was interviewed by WrestlingInc recently and admitted that he was surprised that Vince left to begin with.

“I just couldn’t believe he left to begin with. But this is a guy who lives the business, and there’s been a lot of changes since he’s left. Been a lot of changes. Who knows whether Vince will come back or not. I don’t know the stipulation. I think anything like that lights everything up on fire. I don’t think it’s a question of Vince wanting to come back.”

“Like I said, I could never imagine him not being there. But there’s been a lot of changes in the company, and I think it’s pretty obvious that Vince wouldn’t agree with a bunch of them, because he created those and those changes got changed back. So I don’t know how that works, because in essence, he didn’t leave going, ‘I’m done, I’m going to retire.’ He left kind of differently.”

Vince McMahon is 77 years old and has largely stayed out of the spotlight after his time running WWE ended.
