Is Vince McMahon In Charge Of WWE?
Vince McMahon shocked the world in July of 2022 when he announced his retirement from WWE amidst an investigation into alleged sexual misconduct and hush money payments. In the wake of his retirement, Triple H took over both creative duties as well as talent relations as Chief Content Officer.
However, his retirement was short-lived, and in January of 2023, he announced that as majority shareholder, he was electing himself back to the WWE Board of Directors in order to facilitate a sale of the company. In April, it was announced that WWE would be merging with UFC under parent company Endeavor to form a new $21+ entity. Endeavor head Ari Emanuel will serve as CEO of the new company called TKO Group Holdings. Vince McMahon will serve as Executive Chairman of the Board.
Though McMahon has claimed he doesn’t want to get in the weeds of running weekly television shows and that Triple H has final creative say, he has been making regular changes to Raw and SmackDown. These changes are largely made remotely as he’s only been backstage on a handful of occasions since his return to the company.
