Vince McMahon’s Attorney Issues Punchy Response To Latest Allegations
Vince McMahon’s attorney has responded to a new lawsuit connected to the Ring Boy scandal.
TRIGGER WARNING: The article discusses sex crimes against children.
On October 23rd it was announced that a new lawsuit had been filed against Vince McMahon, Linda McMahon, WWE, and TKO. The suit alleges that those named were complicit in the sexual exploitation of children by former ringside announcer and ring crew chief Melvin Phillips Jr.
The suit claims that the boys were “groomed, exploited, and sexually abused” by Phillips.
It’s alleged that McMahon and others were “fully aware” of the abuses suffered by the “ring boys” who often did odd jobs for WWE in preparation for shows.
Vince McMahon’s Attorney Hits Back
In response to the lawsuit, McMahon’s attorney Jessica Rosenberg issued a statement via Brandon Thurston. In the statement, Rosenberg slams the claims as “absurd, defamatory, and utterly meritless.”
“More than 30 years ago, the columnist Phil Mushnick tried to make headlines with these same false claims. Those allegations were never proven and ultimately became the subject of a defamation lawsuit against Mr. Mushnick.
The negligence claims against Mr. McMahon that were asserted today rely on these same absurd, defamatory and utterly meritless statements by Mr. Mushnick. We will vigorously defend Mr. McMahon and are confident the court will find that these claims are untrue and unfounded.”
The filing comes after Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis, alleging sex trafficking and sexual abuse in January. Grant’s lawsuit is currently on hold after the United States government launched its own investigation into McMahon.
Vince McMahon continues to deny any wrongdoing.
