Vince McMahon Dismisses Chris Benoit Murder Claims
Vince McMahon has dismissed many of the main theories connected to horrific murders carried out by ex-WWE star Chris Benoit.
The murder of Nancy and Daniel Benoit followed by the suicide of Chris Benoit rocked the world of wrestling. WWE was held under a microscope like very few times in its history as the media tried to find some sense in the seemingly senseless deaths.
Steroid abuse and concussion issues quickly came to the fore in terms of possible reasons for Chris Benoit’s twisted actions but it seems almost two decades after the events, Vince McMahon is still not convinced they had their part to play.
Speaking in his Mr McMahon Netflix documentary, McMahon discussed the end of Benoit’s life and dismissed any idea that his steroid use was involved:
There’s no correlation between taking steroids and what happened to Chris Benoit, human beings are flawed. Chris went nuts, it happens in every form of life, that’s the only thing I can take away from it.
Vince McMahon Claims Chris Benoit Move Was A Complete Work
Former WWE star Christopher Nowinski then explained how Benoit’s brain was studied by doctors following his death as he suggested CTE played a part. Suffice it to say that explanation did not go down well with Vince McMahon:
This doctor came up with this ridiculous statement of ‘Okay here’s why Chris Benoit did this.’ There was some sort of trauma to his head and things were shown where Chris would dive off the rope and hit someone with his head. That’s a complete work. It looks like there’s damage and there’s not. We know what we’re doing, we don’t hurt each other.
Christopher Nowinski explained how putting Benoit’s brain under a microscope clearly showed the effects of CTE a disease he says can cause problems with emotion, behaviour, disinhibition, aggression, and depression.
