A popular AEW star looks set to sign a new contract.

It was recently reported that Dustin Rhodes’ AEW contract expires before the end of September. Despite his contract status, Rhodes is currently one-half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions with Sammy Guevara and one-third of the World Six-Man Tag Team Champions with The Von Erichs.

The veteran has been with the company since 2019 but has spent most of 2024 wrestling on Rampage and in Ring of Honor.

To add to the speculation, days after the report emerged on his future, Rhodes announced the launch of his own promotion the Rhodes Wrestling Association. The promotion will hold its first-ever show on November 21st, with Texas Fall Fury taking place at the RWA Bullpen in Leander, Texas.

Dustin Rhodes Expected To Re-Sign With AEW

Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Rhodes is expected to stay with AEW.

Dustin Rhodes, whose AEW contract expires soon but he’s expected to renew, announced he would start running regular live shows in Texas under the banner of the Rhodes Wrestling Federation. The first show will be 11/21 in Leander, TX at the RWA Bullpen. Rhodes trains a crew of wrestlers in Austin, TX, so these shows are likely to give them experience in working before live crowds.

While Dustin Rhodes will seemingly remain All Elite, the company is losing confidence in its efforts to keep hold of Daniel Garcia. It’s believed the star’s contract expires in October and he’s yet to sign an extension.

It’s been an open secret that WWE has had a significant interest in Garcia for months, and the sports entertainment giant would be a likely destination should he let his current deal run out.
