Tony Khan is planning a “special gift” for Sting on Dynamite.

On the October 18th episode of Dynamite, Sting announced that he’ll bring down the curtain on his legendary career in early 2024. The Icon explained that as his first AEW match took place at Revolution, it’s only right that his last match should be at the same event.

It’s since been announced that Tony Khan has a special gift for the legend on the October 25th edition of Dynamite, although there’s no word on what the gift might be.

Speaking on AEW Control Center, announcer Tony Schiavone said Khan’s gift to Sting would be historic.

“Tony Khan now says he has a very special gift for Sting that he’ll present to him tonight. This will be an historic gift. Yes, I said historic. Nothing like this has ever happened to a wrestler in pro wrestling. Stay tuned for that tonight,”

Dave Meltzer Sent Tony Khan Advice On Booking Sting

Appearing on the McGuire on Wrestling podcast, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer revealed that he contacted Tony Khan to give him pointers on Sting’s eventual retirement:

“I don’t remember if I sent – talked or emailed Tony Khan, but I definitely contacted Tony Khan after that final Noah match that [Great] Muta wrestled and I go, ‘This is your template.’ You know what I mean. Whenever it comes time for Sting, look for this for ideas because [Pro Wrestling] NOAH did such a phenomenal job.”

Sting began his career back in 1985 and went on to become a major player for Jim Crockett Promotions, WCW, and TNA, later appearing in WWE before landing in AEW. The veteran is one of the most beloved wrestlers in the world and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016.
