Major Update On Steve Austin Plans For WrestleMania 39
A new report has given possibly the final update on Steve Austin’s status for WrestleMania 39 with the megastar heavily rumoured to be competing.
Steve Austin made a huge return to the ring at WrestleMania 38 when he ended up facing Kevin Owens in the main event of night one of the show. The segment featuring both men had originally been advertised as an episode of The Kevin Owens Show but when both men got to the ring the true nature of their confrontation quickly came to light.
That was Austin’s first match in a WWE ring since he was defeated by The Rock at WrestleMania 19 some nineteen years previous.
With WrestleMania 39 on the horizon, rumours have been running rampant that Steve Austin could return to the event yet again, reportedly being offered matches with the likes of Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. However, speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio Dave Meltzer noted that for fans of Austin, it could be bad news:
“As far as Austin goes, Steve might be at the show – I wouldn’t be surprised at all – he might do something on the show, but he did in fact turn down wrestling at the show.
“He was offered Lesnar, he was offered Roman Reigns, he could have named his opponent if he wanted to do it with anybody else. But he did not choose to wrestle on the show.”
Roman Reigns now knows his opponent for WrestleMania 39 with his challenger for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship confirmed on Raw.
