Update On The Hardys’ TNA Contract Situation

The Hardys Matt Hardy Jeff Hardy

The Hardys, Matt and Jeff Hardy, currently serve as TNA’s World Tag Team Champions.

The duo won the title for the fourth time by winning the four-way ladder match against The Nemeths, The Rascalz, and First Class at TNA Slammiversary in July.

Since then, they have defended it several times, including once on NXT against DarkState in a Winner Takes All match in October, which saw them win the NXT Tag Team Championship, too.

However, that same month at NXT Halloween Havoc, they were beaten by DarkState in a match under the Broken Rules stipulation.

The Hardys, who are also the House of Glory Tag Team Champions, competed last at HOG Winter Warfare on December 19, where they successfully defended their championship against Lance Anoa’i and Zilla Fatu.

According to a report by Fightful Select, the duo has yet to re-sign with TNA Wrestling. The report stated that an agreement is expected to be reached ‘very soon.’

Sources informed them that 51-year-old Matt Hardy and 48-year-old Jeff Hardy have not officially signed new contracts with TNA. However, they noted that a deal is expected to be done very soon with a potential long-term agreement. [H/T: Wrestlingnews.co]

What Keeps The Hardys Going?

The Hardys hold a legendary status in the wrestling industry, having started their professional careers together in the independent circuit in 1995.

Their tag team status evolved in WWE in the late 90s after they aligned with Michael Hayes.

Their transition into Team Xtreme with the addition of Lita saw their popularity soar even more, as Matt and Jeff often picked up feuds with Edge & Christian and The Dudley Boyz.

During a recent interview with KVIA ABC-7, the siblings revealed the secret behind their longevity, considering Matt Hardy is 51 and Jeff Hardy is 48.

The brothers credited their ability to constantly reinvent themselves throughout their 30+ years of wrestling.

Now, being closer to retirement more than ever, they even aimed at securing a spot in WWE’s Hall of Fame in the near future.
