Update On Nakamura/WWE Status And When He’s Gone From NJPW
It was widely reported on Monday that four of NJPW top stars are in line to sign for WWE in the coming weeks: AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Karl “Machine Gun” Anderson and Doc Gallows.
With Nakamura as the current IWGP Intercontinental Champion, many thought he would be staying for a while in NJPW to drop the championship. Tokyo Sports have reported that Nakamura will indeed be leaving NJPW at the end of this month.
He reportedly gave NJPW officials his notice just before the Wrestle Kingdom event this past Sunday, 4th January, but will be leaving sooner than expected.
WWE themselves have yet to confirm the signing of all four individuals, but with the WWE website posting an article about the four, and the internet still buzzing, all signs point to them coming to WWE very soon.
Ski’s Take – After hearing the news about the “NJPW Four”, I instantly thought that maybe Nakamura would be late in joining the WWE party as he is the IWGP Intercontinental Champion. NJPW would need him to drop the belt before he left and a storyline would need to be in place for that to happen. Lo and behold, the very next night after Wrestle Kingdom 10 at the New Years Dash, this happened…..

Ready made feud (rivalry if Uncle Vince is reading) for Nakamura to drop the title, and jump over to WWE.
