Update On Mercedes Mone’s Japan Schedule
With Mercedes Mone making her in-ring return next month, a new report has shed some light on how many NJPW she is set to have in the near future.
It was one of the worst kept surprises in wrestling, as Mercedes Mone made her much-rumored and highly-anticipated NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17. Attacking KAIRI after her successful IWGP Women’s Championship defense, Mone laid out the title holder and issued a challenge for the belt, with the match now signed for Battle In The Valley on 18th February, taking place in San Jose.
There has not yet been any official confirmation of when the former Sasha Banks will have her first match in Japan. However, a new report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio indicates that her contracted matches over the next few months are minimal.
Meltzer notes that there are only two dates which Mercedes Mone is contracted to compete in Japan, both in April. He claims that the matches will be at Sakura Genesis in the Sumo Hall on 8th April, and then in a STARDOM match at Yokohama Arena on 23rd April.
The first Mercedes match is obviously going to be in San Jose. Mercedes will be at the Sumo Hall show, which will be her first match in Japan, and I believe her second match in Japan will be on the STARDOM show at the Yokohama Arena. Those are both in April.
If successful in her match for the IWGP Women’s Championship, Mone has made it clear that she plans to take the belt everywhere.
