Update On Jay White’s Wrestling Future
Following his defeat in a ‘Loser Leaves Japan’ match, a new update has shed some light on the wrestling future of Jay White.
Jay White has been a mainstay of New Japan Pro Wrestling ever since he returned to the promotion following his excursion in 2017 as Switchblade. White joined the Chaos faction led by Kazuchika Okada but in 2018 White and Okada’s long-time associate Gedo pulled off a stunning betrayal as they left Chaos to join Bullet Club.
White went on to become IWGP Heavyweight Champion in 2019 when he defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi at The New Beginning in Osaka and four years later, that same event could have provided another pivotal moment in Swtichblade’s career.
At New Year’s Dash, following Wrestle Kingdom 17 where Jay White lost the IWGP World Heavyweight Title to Okada, Switchblade took his frustrations out on Hikuleo, and ended up challenging the star to a Loser Leaves Japan match.
That match took place at The New Beginning in Osaka 2023 and despite White’s best efforts to win by hook or by crook, a massive chokeslam was the end as Hikuleo picked up the win, banishing Jay White from Japan.
Fightful Select has now reported that White is looking to move back to the US, but nothing has been confirmed for him as of yet. The report reaffirms previous suggestions that WWE is interested in Switchblade although suggestions he could have appeared at the Royal Rumble were not part of any discussions.
Some talent in NJPW is said to believe that White’s deal with the company expires somewhere between Battle In The Valley and WrestleMania 39. White is scheduled to face AEW star Eddie Kingston at NJPW Battle In The Valley on February 18th.
