Major Update On MJF’s AEW Future As Acting Bug Bites

MJF

MJF has caught the acting bug, but what does that mean for his future in AEW?

The last time AEW fans saw MJF in action was back at All Out when he lost to Mark Briscoe in the brutal Tables ‘n’ Tacks match. That bout came one day after Mistico also got his comeuppance on the star by defeating MJF to win the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Title in a championship vs. mask match.

His absence from AEW came as needed time off to film the movie, Violent Night 2, after also appearing in the likes of Happy Gilmore 2 and The Iron Claw.

MJF had been splitting his time between AEW and filming his new role in Winnipeg, but questions have been asked about his status due to being absent from the ring since All Out.

MJF Could Be Clear For AEW Return

Fightful Select has given an update on the former AEW World Champion. It was noted that the filming of Violent Night 2 is set to wrap up relatively soon, although that doesn’t necessarily mean that MJF will be instantly back in AEW. Sources in Tony Khan’s company noted that MJF has caught the acting bug, and he’s been open about how much he’s enjoyed filming. This could indicate that he’s got more than an eye on Hollywood and could see him following full-time in the footsteps of The Rock, Batista, and John Cena.

AEW Full Gear takes place on November 22nd, but it remains to be seen if MJF will be back in the fold to be a part of that card. It was at the 2022 edition of that event that The Salt of the Earth captured the AEW World Championship from Jon Moxley. At 2023’s Full Gear, he successfully defended that title against Jay White and in 2024, he defeated Roderick Strong in a singles match, continuing his undefeated run at AEW’s November spectacular.
