Update On Mercedes Mone Following Recent Injury

Mercedes Mone

Things might not be looking good for Mercedes Mone following her injury at NJPW Resurgence.

Ever since she appeared at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, Mercedes Mone was meant to be a major player in NJPW’s women’s division. The company looked to cement her as a division fixture at Resurgence where, according to Fightful Select, she was supposed to win the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship.

However, this didn’t happen because Mone fell off a top turnbuckle to the floor and landed very badly. Per Fightful, that injury ended up causing a lot of changes. Mone called two audibles, one for the match’s finish to come early and one for her opponent, Willow Nightingale, to win instead.

This came about because Mone was said to be in such pain that there was no way she’d be able to finish whatever was still planned for the match, much less have any other subsequent matches.

The report continued by noting that NJPW was working with the impression that Mercedes Mone’s injury was a severe sprain and no muscle or bone breaks. However, those close to Mone have noted that there’s undoubtedly a sprain and a high chance of something being broken.

That said, nothing can be determined at this time because of how much swelling there is at the injury site.
