Update On Edge’s Contract Status With WWE
A new report has given the latest update on WWE Hall of Famer Edge and how long he might have left on his current contract.
Edge has not been on WWE television since his match with The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor at Extreme Rules back in October. On that occasion, Rhea Ripley threatened Beth Phoenix with a one-woman con-chair-to causing Edge to say ‘I Quit’ giving Balor the victory. However, The Rated-R Superstar wasn’t on television very much to build to the match and a new report might confirm why.
Fightful Select has reported that WWE sources confirmed to them that Edge is on a limited-date deal with the company. A WWE ‘higher up’ is quoted as saying that the company tried to “buy some weeks” by using vignettes to hype Edge’s return and allow them more time to build up the big matches against Balor and also against his former Judgment Day protege, Damian Priest.
The report also indicates that the narrative in 2020 when the WWE Hall of Famer returned to the ring was that he had signed a 3-year deal for 25 appearances and 5 matches a year. That seems to be inaccurate or the terms were changed as Edge competed in ten matches in 2021 and nine in 2022 – including a huge tag team match at Clash at the Castle where he teamed with Rey Mysterio before both men were turned on by Dominik Mysterio.
If the three-year term was correct then it could mean his WWE deal could be up soon but it may have been frozen with time added due to injury.
