Major Update On Rumored Cody Rhodes Heel Turn At WWE SummerSlam

Cody Rhodes

As WWE fans start to turn on Cody Rhodes, is he really about to officially turn heel at SummerSlam?

Cody Rhodes has been beloved by WWE fans ever since he made his triumphant return to the company at WrestleMania 38. For two years, fans roared Rhodes on, and his backing only got louder after he missed out on winning the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 39.

In 2024, Rhodes won back-to-back Royal Rumbles and booked another title shot at WrestleMania 40. This time, Cody Rhodes finished his story and captured the WWE Title to the delight of fans around the world.

WWE Not Planning Cody Rhodes’ Heel Turn

Rhodes lost that title to a villainous John Cena at WrestleMania 41, with Cena receiving unlikely help from Travis Scott. Now, months on from that contest, it seems more fans are realising they are seeing the final months of Cena’s career and want to get behind him. This is leading to some mixed reactions for Rhodes as he gets the chance to reclaim the WWE Title at SummerSlam.

But is WWE planning to turn The American Nightmare heel in that match?

BodySlam.net has now reported that WWE has no plans at SummerSlam to turn Rhodes heel. It remains to be seen how fans will react to him in MetLife Stadium and what that will mean for John Cena in his last four months as a WWE star.
