Upcoming John Cena Match To Make Unique WWE History

John Cena WWE SD

The next match John Cena has in a WWE ring will be only the second time something like it has ever happened.

John Cena had a busy night on WWE SmackDown in Lexington because he was confronted by Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, LA Knight, and CM Punk during his two in-ring promo segments.

Additionally, the WWE Champion Cena was attacked by Ron Killings (R-Truth) both times he was out in front of the crowd. The first time, Truth punched Cena repeatedly, and the second time, Truth put Cena in the STF, which he used as a submission move.

Following his second attack on Cena, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis talked to Ron Killings backstage to find out what he wanted. Killings said he wanted a match with Cena for next week, so Aldis booked it for the June 20th SmackDown in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

When John Cena faced R-Truth at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24th, Cena used a low blow kick that the referee didn’t see before finishing off Truth with the Attitude Adjustment for the win.

John Cena’s Match With Ron Killings Will Be Second Time Two Wrestlers Competed At Four Different Televised Events

The WWE Stats account on X/Twitter posted an interesting remark about how Cena against Killings (R-Truth) is only the second match in company history to take place on Raw, SmackDown, a WWE PPV/PLE and Saturday Night’s Main Event.

This is set to become only the second 1-on-1 matchup in @WWE history to occur on…

a #WWE PPV/PLE
Saturday Night’s Main Event
AND #SmackDown

Can you name the other pair to do it?

The answer to the question is WWE Hall of Famer Edge against Jeff Hardy. They have wrestled on Raw, SmackDown, Saturday Night’s Main Event in July 2008 and multiple PLE matches at Royal Rumble 2009, Judgment Day 2009 and Extreme Rules 2009, to name a few.

As for Cena and Killings, they wrestled in the main event of the Capitol Punishment PLE, with Cena getting the win in that match.
