Unlikely AEW Star More Than Happy To Kick Cody Rhodes’ Ass

Cody Rhodes screaming

One AEW star would be happy to hand out a beating to Cody Rhodes after Rhodes named them as a very unlikely dream opponent.

When Cody Rhodes left WWE in 2016, he made a list of opponents he wanted to check off on his quest to rebuild his career on the independent scene. As history shows, that soon snowballed into a run as ROH World Champion, NWA World Heavyweight Champion, the biggest independent show in the US in decades and the formation of AEW.

Rhodes might have been an EVP in that company but he left it all behind to rejoin WWE in 2022 and has since achieved his ultimate goal of becoming WWE Champion at WrestleMania 40.

But it seems if things had happened in another time and place, Cody Rhodes would have loved to mix it up in the ring with one man he came very close to in AEW.

Speaking recently on BBC Newsround, Cody Rhodes named WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW star Jake Roberts as his dream opponent:

Hmm, I’d probably say I’d like to wrestle – this is perhaps a random one – Jake Roberts. Jake The Snake.

Just because he had a really kind of unique psychology to how we do this in front of an audience, and I’d like to learn in addition to [fighting] him at the same time.

Jake Roberts Interested In Cody Rhodes Match

And it seems Jake Roberts has found out about Rhodes’ wish.

Speaking on The Snake Pit, Jake Roberts responded to Rhodes’ comments and thinks after battles with Cody Rhodes’ brother and father, he could hand out one another beating to the American Nightmare:

It feels pretty damn good, I gotta tell you that. I’d be interested in that match for sure. You know, I’ve wrestled his brother and father, so I might as well kick his ass too.

Jake Roberts is unlikely to ever get back in the ring again but he is currently the manager of LFI on AEW TV after completing a very unexpected talent trade with Don Callis.
