Unfortunate Update On The Rock’s WWE Future

The Rock

Should fans expect to see The Rock back with WWE?

The Rock was a regular presence in WWE in early 2025, featuring on Raw’s Netflix debut before appearing on an episode of SmackDown in the lead-up to Elimination Chamber.

During this appearance, he said that he wanted Cody Rhodes’ soul, promising that he could take him to a whole new level. However, at the PLE, Rhodes turned down the veteran before John Cena stunningly turned heel.

Many felt that this was another step in the story leading to a match involving The Rock and Rhodes, potentially at WrestleMania. However, the Hollywood star hasn’t appeared on TV since.

Following WrestleMania 41, The Rock gave a strange explanation for missing the show, claiming the story around Rhodes and Cena didn’t need him.

But with SummerSlam just around the corner, and WWE’s desire to pack the first-ever two-night edition of the event, could the star make an appearance?

Report Gives Update On The Rock

Despite some speculation online, according to BodySlam.net, there’s no indication that The Rock will be back on WWE television any time soon. As such, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll be involved at SummerSlam on August 2 and August 3.

Although his absence continues, John Cena recently admitted that he’d be open to facing The Rock in his final match. The current Undisputed WWE Champion is set to hang up his boots in mid-December, although a specific date is yet to be announced.

The pair haven’t met in the ring since Cena beat The Great One at WrestleMania 29 back in 2013. In fact, they’ve only wrestled in singles action with the score between them standing at 1-1.
