Uncertainty Surrounds Kenny Omega’s AEW Return
There remain more questions than answers surrounding Kenny Omega.
Kenny Omega hasn’t wrestled since being diagnosed with diverticulitis in early December 2023, with his last match coming on December 5th. The former AEW World Champion had hoped to avoid surgery, but he eventually went under the knife in May after making two appearances on Dynamite.
There have been several reports since May stating that Omega plans to resume his wrestling career, but there are still plenty of questions about his future.
In a new interview with Love-Spo, Omega’s friend Michael Nakazawa shared an update on his progress, revealing he’s working on finding the best training plan to help his recovery.
“He has been able to do physical training. He is still not able to lift the same weights as before, so he is trying to find the best training that he can do while incorporating rehabilitative elements such as walking and exercising in the pool, and he is working hard toward recovery. He is trying to find the best training he can do at the moment.”
Nakazawa explained that there is still no timeline for a potential return to the ring.
”That’s right. Since there is no power in the abdomen to begin with, there is a concern about whether or not one can perform in such a state. The impact is physically quite strong, so you never know how it will affect your internal organs. So I can’t say anything about when he will be able to return to work.”
Kenny Omega’s Return Linked To Kota Ibushi
It was recently reported that Kota Ibushi is preparing to return to AEW, but he will only do so when Kenny Omega makes his own comeback. The pair have a lengthy history having teamed together as the Golden Lovers in Japan for several years.
Ibushi returned to the ring in July after a six-month absence due to injury. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion hasn’t competed in AEW since November 2023.
