Uncertainty Still Surrounding Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre could miss WWE SmackDown.
Former World Champion Drew McIntyre stepped into the year at the very top of his game after an impressive 2024.
This saw McIntyre arrive at the Royal Rumble as one of the pre-match favourites, but things quickly went off the rails, both in storyline and backstage.
After entering the match at number 17, McIntyre hung around for just over 26 minutes before being eliminated by Damian Priest. However, by the time he got backstage, an irate McIntyre was shouting and swearing before leaving the arena.
According to reports in the immediate aftermath, he was upset at someone in the match “having to get their moves in.” The same report noted that McIntyre wasn’t alone in feeling that was the case.
A further report noted that Drew McIntyre was upset with LA Knight, who was doing things in the match that hadn’t been agreed ahead of time. This was something that got in the way of McIntyre being eliminated, so he and Priest had to work themselves back into position a second time.
Following the incident, McIntyre missed Monday Night Raw and it appears there’s no guarantee he’ll be on SmackDown.
Drew McIntyre’s Status Remains Unclear
A new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider noted that when asking about McIntyre appearing on SmackDown, sources said, “Anything is possible.” Perhaps more crucially, Johnson explained the bridge between McIntyre and WWE hasn’t been burned to the ground as some may have feared. In fact, the two sides were quickly in communication after the star stormed out of the Rumble.
McIntyre had been appearing on the blue brand ahead of the Royal Rumble.
It’s been announced that Jey Uso and Charlotte Flair will be on SmackDown after winning the men’s and women’s Rumble matches, respectively.
