Uncertainty Surrounds Top AEW Star Dealing With “Very Serious” Injury
There remains no word on when one of AEW’s biggest stars will be back in the ring.
Jamie Hayter hasn’t been seen in AEW since losing the Women’s World Title at Double or Nothing 2023.
In the days leading up to her match with Toni Storm at the May event it was reported Hayter was dealing with an injury, and there were even suggestions she wouldn’t wrestle at all. However, she did compete in a truncated match lasting three minutes — seemingly in an effort to protect her.
In the wake of Double or Nothing it was reported Hayter wouldn’t be back in action in 2023, with details on her injury largely kept quiet.
In a June 2024 interview, Tony Khan said Jamie Hayter’s timetable was still pending, but he was looking forward to having her back.
Jamie Hayter AEW Return Remains Up In The Air
A new report from Fightful Select has offered an update on Hayter, and her current status.
Despite little information being available, Fightful confirmed the British star was recently in attendance at an AEW TV taping to undergo a physical — along with the rest of the roster and several stars not currently on television. The feeling within the company is said to be there’s been some positive progress towards a comeback, but there’s no word on how close a return might be as her injury was “a very serious one.”
When Fightful asked those within AEW about Hayter it was noted her appearance at the taping was the first positive step they’d seen taken on the way to a comeback.
Talent said Hayter hasn’t been backstage since that appearance for physicals, and they haven’t heard much about her as she’s keeping to herself and focusing on her recovery.
There has been “discussion on the possibility of her return this year,” and talent have made pitches involving the star. Those close to Hayter who Fightful spoke to are “confident a return is on the cards.”
