UFC Champion Wants To Team Up With Cody Rhodes In WWE

Cody Rhodes WWE Champion

A current champion in the UFC thinks Cody Rhodes would make a great tag team partner in WWE.

The TKO Group which is owned by Endeavor runs two major companies – UFC and WWE. They were put under the same umbrella when Endeavor officially acquired WWE in September 2023.

As a combat sports giant, TKO Group has dominated the market by running major events all around the world. Since the two companies are together, there have been many UFC fighters appearing at WWE shows and also WWE superstars going to UFC fights. It’s a smart business crossover for both brands.

Since WWE and UFC are so closely aligned now, there will likely be some crossover stars in the years ahead. An example of that is WWE’s Julius Creed being a part of Daniel Cormier’s coaching team on The Ultimate Fighter reality show.

Tom Aspinall is the current Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion and he is a fan of WWE. Aspinall spoke with The Schmo about what he might want to do in WWE in the future with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes as an opponent, or perhaps a tag team partner.

“No, that’s for when I’ve retired. That’s my retirement plan. Me and Cody Rhodes. Yeah, he’s my guy. So, yeah, me and Cody will have a match one day. I think we might team up because we’re both babyfaces, aren’t we?

“Maybe we could fight like Jon Jones and whoever the heel is over there. Who’s the main heel? Well, John Cena just turned heel. Yeah, so a Cody Rhodes and Tom Aspinall tag team versus Jon Jones and John Cena. Babyfaces versus heels. Big matchup!”

Cody Rhodes Is WWE’s Workhorse Champion

As the Undisputed WWE Champion for the past year, Cody Rhodes has cemented his place as the biggest superstar in the company.

Paul Heyman is a WWE Hall of Famer who recently praised Cody for being a workhorse who represents the company very well.

“Cody Rhodes is the champion. If there’s anybody right now — my God — he’s a commerce facilitator. He sells tickets, he sells t-shirts, he sells weight belts, he sells replica title belts that he signs. He drives commerce.

‘Cody, we need you in Detroit. We’re at 98%. We really want to sell out. We’re going to book you on three morning radio shows starting at 6 a.m. in Detroit. ‘Great, I’ll be there. If there are any others overnight, I’ll do the overnight radios too. I’ll do the afternoon drive-time radios, and I’ll get to the arena for the WWE show.’

A workhorse. My God, man. And he’s doing it on his days off too. The commitment he has to promote the product goes along with it. It’s all about finding the greatness within people and helping them understand themselves and how to bring it out. That’s what a director does, or a producer does, or whatever a wise man does.”

At WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, Cody Rhodes will put the Undisputed WWE Title on the line against John Cena in what will be Cody’s toughest test as the champion.

WWE WrestleMania 41 takes place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 19 & 20. Here’s the lineup so far.
