Two WWE Main Roster “Free Agent” Stars Appear On NXT

With several free agents in WWE left unclaimed following the draft, two of those stars could have a future in NXT after making surprise appearances there.

Every main roster star was eligible for the draft alongside some selected NXT talent but in the end, it is the developmental brand that may have lost out the most at the time as both the NXT Women’s Champion and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions were among those drafted to the main roster.

The draft threw up a number of free agents as a result with Brock Lesnar, Baron Corbin, Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin, Dolph Ziggler, Elias, Mustafa Ali, Omos w/MVP, Von Wagner, and Xyon Quinn all remaining undrafted. However, on NXT TV following Battleground, two of those stars made unexpected appearances.

Mustafa Ali returned to NXT where he appeared in the crowd during a match between Wes Lee & Tyler Bate and The Dyad. When The Dyad’s leader in The Schism Joe Gacy turned up to help beat down Bate and Lee, Ali interjected chasing the menacing group off.

Later in the night, there was another surprise following NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes’ successful title defense against Noam Dar. Baron Corbin returned to the brand to attack Hayes and hit him with the End of Days before posing with Hayes’ championship.

Corbin had been a popular star in NXT in its early days where he built up an impressive undefeated streak as the Lone Wolf, however, he never held gold on the brand with his only title in WWE coming in 2017 when he captured the United States Championship.
