Two Title Matches Set For WWE SmackDown Before SummerSlam

WWE Tag Team Titles Johnny Gargano Tommaso Ciampa

The final SmackDown episode before WWE SummerSlam will have two huge championship matches.

#DIY’s Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa have been the WWE Tag Team Champions since the July 5th episode of Smackdown when they defeated Grayson Waller & Austin Theory to become the champions.

That title change took place on the night before the Money in the Bank PLE. As for when the champions will defend the titles again, that’s taking place next Friday, August 2nd on Smackdown just one night before SummerSlam takes place, also in Cleveland. While Johnny Gargano may have a bit of a home field advantage since he’s from Cleveland, it will be a tough test for #DIY.

The team that will be facing #DIY are Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga of The Bloodline after winning a six-team Gauntlet Match. The other teams in the Gauntlet Match were Legado Del Fantasma – Angel & Berto, Baron Corbin & Apollo Crews, Pretty Deadly – Kit Wilson & Elton Prince, The OC – Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson and The Street Profits – Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins.

It came down to The Street Profits and The Bloodline at the end of the Gauntlet Match. This came after The Street Profits beat three teams in a row and were in the ring for over 20 minutes. The Bloodline was too much for the Profits as Jacob Fatu hit a popup Samoan Drop on Ford followed by a double jump moonsault off the top for the win.

Considering how impressive The Bloodline has been especially since Jacob Fatu debuted, the WWE Tag Team Title reign of #DIY could be in jeopardy on the August 2nd episode of Smackdown when they face Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga.

Former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Getting Rematch On SmackDown

The team of Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair did an in-ring promo making it clear that they wanted a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles that they held until they lost them in a triple threat match where neither one of them was pinned. Belair said that Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn have been ghosting them since they got the titles at WWE Clash at the Castle. Belair wondered where the champions were. Jade said that they need to stop ducking and dodging.

That’s when Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, the Women’s Tag Team Champions, attacked Belair and Cargill from behind. Belair tried to give Dawn the KOD, but Dawn landed on the apron and got away. Cargill press slammed Fyre over the top onto Dawn on the floor. Belair and Cargill celebrated in the ring.

Later on Smackdown, it was announced that Cargill & Belair will challenge Dawn & Fyre for the Women’s Tag Team Titles on the August 2nd edition of Smackdown in Cleveland.
